When Hideki Matsui signed with the Los Angeles Angels he made it clear that he wanted to do a little more than DH.
Last year with the New York Yankees, Matsui didn’t see a single inning in the outfield because of knee problems.
After a full season of resting his knees from the DH slot and more rest in the off-season, Matsui wants to contribute more.
The Angels outfield currently consists of Juan Rivera, Torii Hunter and Bobby Abreu. With Abreu turning 36 this season, Matsui could be a very important pick-up if he’s able to get in and give Abreu a break now and again.
If Abreu can keep performing at the level everyone’s grown accustomed to, the Angels could be a very dangerous team come the fall.
The Angels are expected to contend this season and the over/under for Los Angeles Angles wins currently sits at 84.5.
