New York Yankees at Oakland Athletics Baseball Betting Preview

The New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics square off in the second tilt of a three-game set on Tuesday at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (10:05 pm ET, CSN).

In the opener last night, the Yankees put on an impressive defensive show to secure a 3-1 win over the A’s, thanks in large part to starter Javier Vazquez giving up just one run over seven innings.

The defending World Series champions cashed as -155 road favorites and the score went under the 8-run total.

The Yankees’ offense was supplied by Mark Teixeira, who hammered his 14th home run of the season, and Curtis Granderson and Francisco Cervelli, who drove in the other runs. Coco Crisp had the lone run and Ben Sheets took the loss after giving up three runs over 7 1-3 innings for the A’s.

Tonight, the Yankees will go with ace lefty CC Sabathia, who is 10-3 this season with a 3.33 ERA. The Athletics will counter with righthander with Trevor Cahill, who is 8-2 with a 2.74 ERA.

The Yankees are listed as -155 MLB odds favorites while the Athletics are +135. The total is 7.5 runs.

The New York Yankees (51-31 SU) have won three straight games. The Yankees lead the AL East and are two games up on the second-place Tampa Bay Rays. Oakland is 41-43 SU this season, and is in third place in the AL West, eight games back of the first-place Texas Rangers.

The Yankees are 5-1 SU in their last six games on the road, and in the last six meetings with Oakland, both overall and in Oakland.

There is a strong under trend as the total has gone under in four of the past five meetings, and in four of Oakland’s last six games at home.
