Baltimore Orioles at Cleveland Indians Baseball Betting Preview

The Baltimore Orioles take on the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland on Thursday night, August 12, 2010. This is a big game for the Orioles because if they can win it then they will have won 5 straight and they also will have completed their first sweep of the Cleveland Indians in the past 23 years of play.

Buck Showalter has helped lead the team to 8-1 and continues to give the Baltimore Orioles some hope. Baltimore is currently sitting at 40-74 and will have Millwood starting even though he hasn’t won a game since June 24. This will be a good chance for him to end his decline and get back in the groove of things.

If the Orioles can win this game they will also achieve their first five game win streak since June 17, 2009. The pitchers for Baltimore have put up a 2.30 ERA in the last nine games under the direction of Showalter. The hitters on the team have also stepped up their game including Adam Jones who is batting .405, and Luke Scott who is hitting .385.

The Cleveland Indians are looking to their rookie, Jeanmar Gomez, to come out strong and give the Orioles a good challenge. The Indians have not looked so hot lately, only winning 2 of the last 11 at home and have lost four straight.

Gomez has only started three times in his major league career but in his last start he gave up four hits and one run but did not get a decision. He looks to have good movement on his fastball and is rapidly improving his game.
