Derek Jeter Wants to Remain a Yankee by MLB Baseball Previews

]]> Derek Jeter’s plans for the future are abundantly clear. He wants to stay a Yankee and will not become a free agent or play with another team after his contract is up at the end of the 2010 season.

Jeter’s agent is probably fretting about how much money it’s going to cost him because he’s pretty much removed the best bargaining chip. But I’m pretty sure Jeter has enough squirreled away to get by on a below market value contract for awhile.

The Yankees have a policy of not negotiating contracts until the current contract has expired, so we won’t know how Jeter’s admission will affect his contract.

Jeter said that he wants to play for the Yankees as long as he’s having fun and still helping the team.

The Yankees are again this year considered the team to beat. The odds to win the 2010 World Series list them as +275 to repeat as champions.
