The Indians are slight MLB odds favorites with the money line paying -130 while the Rangers are getting +110. The over/under is 8.

In 2009, the Cleveland Indians struggled against the Rangers, losing eight of nine meetings. Carmona in particular had a hard time with the Rangers, going 0-3 with a 10.03 ERA in three starts. Rangers’ left fielders Josh Hamilton (4 for 10, three doubles) and David Murphy (5 for 7) have had the greatest success against the right hander.

The Texas Rangers (3-3) are playing their first road game. The Rangers are currently in second place in the AL West behind the Oakland Athletics (5-2). Newly acquired right fielder Vladimir Guerrero leads the Ranger’s offense with a .500 batting average in 24 at bats this season. Texas is coming off of a 9-2 blowout win Saturday afternoon over the Seattle Mariners.

Cleveland (2-4) is heading home after being swept in a three-game series with the Detroit Tigers. They are in a three-way tie for last place in the AL Central with the Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals. They are coming off of a crushing 9-8 loss to Detroit on Sunday, in which they blew a 7-1 sixth inning lead.

In order for the Indians to win, they will need much more out of Carmona than they got from him the last time he faced the Rangers. He lasted just 2/3 of an inning and allowed five runs. The Rangers saw an increase in offensive production on Sunday and will look to capitalize on Carmona’s historical struggles against them. They will also need more out of Harden, who only lasted 3 2/3 innings in a 7-4 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays.
